A Challenge for May

There's lots of challenges during this prolonged period of lockdown, staying fit and healthy is one of them.

Without the support of friends at the gym, team members to train with or compete in matches, golf courses and raquet courts closed, finding the motivation to exercise alone can be hard. It helps to set an achieveable goal to keep us focused. This is exactly what Darren has done. Here is his challenge for May. Why not take it and use it yourself? If there are some exercises that you don't know, or struggle to do, replace them with your own. Or at the very least, have a go at the walking challenge - this is something we can all do, in fact we're encouarged to do. Or, if you prefer, set an equivalent cycling challenge.

Oh - and no excuses - just because I'm a little late with this post, doesn't mean you can't give it a go. You could reduce the challenge by half or commit to do it over 4 weeks. It'll be a warm up for a challenge in June!

Challenge to complete during May 2020

Walk a minimum of 100 miles

Complete a minimum of 10,000 repetitions, 1000 each of the below:

  • Body weight squats
  • Jerks ( shoulder press 8kg )
  • Backward lunges, alternate leg( 5 per leg )
  • Sit ups
  • Press ups
  • Kettle bell swings 16kg bell
  • Deadlifts 2x 16kg kettle bells
  • Burpees
  • TRX pull ups
  • Backward turkish get ups ( 5 per side )

Darren is splitting these up into 10 reps each and doing a minimum of 3 sets a day with a 2/3 min rest in between reps
